“Science or humanities acting alone cannot deal successfully with all issues. The uses and beauties of the humanities need to be balanced by those of science. Despite the differences, both are constrained in their creativity by their contexts. In this webinar I offer a few simple – even naïve – perspectives on this age-old dichotomy, in the hope of promoting a little more unity and mutual respect.”

Professor Edwards has been the rector of the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI), independent scientific panel member for the Sustainable Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC) and has focused his work on applying oceanography to issues of ocean circulation coastal pollution, defence, aquaculture and marine management and regulation.
